A Trip To Spain

My mom came and took me out to lunch to Barcelona... I wish I could say we made the trip across the atlantic for some tapas, but we settled for this local spot. The food was delicious (we split three types of tapas - the curry, spinach, chickpea one was my favorite) and the restaurant features an enclosed outdoor seating area, a perfect place to soak in the last lingering rays. 

And my mom brought me a treat from our bakery it home, a tasty cookie that made me super excited for Halloween =O boo.

After many minutes spent sifting through the colors of my friends "Polish Box" I decided on essie's St.Lucia Lilac... and am loving it! The purple is perfect for fall, but it is still light and fun to wear in the lingering heat of summer.

My house was officially put on the real estate market today and the house hunting has begun... me and my mom have already fallen in love a small but charming house. While I am nostalgic to leave my house, I will be taking with me all the great memories, and on the bright side I can not wait to decorate my new room!

With the first day of fall ironically came 85 degree weather... I decided it was going to be one the last chances for shorts and a sleeveless shirt, so i went for it! and added a bow for a youthful & playful twist... get yours here :)

With the sun shining I could not bring myself to enter the depths of the library... so outside it is. With the sun on my back I sat reading The Darker Nations - which chronicles the rise and fall of the Third World - by Vijay Prashad (who happens to be Trinity College professor and my adviser!)

Nothing like playing with a puppy when you're feeling down. A friend of mine was babysitting this adorable bichon frise so I decided a drive by was a must. A couple minutes with this happy boy and suddenly I was smiling again!

New Found Joy

I was captured by Florence's - of Florence and the Machine - performance at the vmas. The next day at my morning coffee stop they were playing her album behind the counter. I hastily downloaded her album Lungs... and I'm in love! I've found myself playing "you've got the love" on repeat. It's mesmerizing! {listen here}

Life of an Artist

Last night of the Cuba Avant-Garde exhibition at the Katonah Museum of Art. 

What a wonderfully interesting collection! 

Note on the exhibition: Cuba Avant-Garde examines a rich and varied history that few outside Cuba have had the opportunity to explore. Selected from one of the premiere private collections in this field, the exhibition features paintings, drawings, prints, photographs, sculptures, and mixed media work by 42 Cuban-born artists. It illustrates how contemporary Cuban art, while firmly rooted in the specific historical and cultural context of Cuba, manages to transcend the limits of geography and nationality to engage with and enrich a much larger global artistic discourse. Major themes addressed by the artists include the history of colonialism, emigration and exile, political and economic crisis, and social issues concerning religion, gender, and race. -Katonah

This one was a particular favorite of mine. The photograph was displayed on a light box bringing into detail the destruction of the architecture... what i find particularly fascinating is the lack of any reaction of the two people to the ruble and destruction, showing that this is something they were probably surrounded by.
